It was a hardcore night of table hockey at the Pytlewski Dome on
Saturday evening, July 13. Halfway through the season, only the
hardest-core guys came to play. Call it an All-Star Weekend. A
quadruple round robin with four players saw season leader Jim Rzonca
come out on top with a 9-3 record, gaining the two points that were
at stake. His CTHL playing partner Joe Salazar finished second at 7-5
to notch a point. Eric Krol was down 4-6 but roared back to win his
final two games to finish 6-6. In the final game of the evening, Krol
needed Rzonca to beat Salazar, but it just wasn't in the cards.
Rzonca knocked one into his own net to go down 3-2, but scored the
equaliser in the last minute. In overtime, Salazar made an
outstanding save and then pumped one home to win 4-3 and preserve
second place. Jerry Pytlewski started off en fuego, going 2-1 in the
first round. He finished 2-10. All players get a point for showing
up, Commissioner Pytlewski ruled.
