Week 5

The turnout was lighter than normal but the play was as furious as
its ever been in the Lemont Stiga Table Hockey League on Saturday
night. With six players in attendance, a triple round-robin was held.
Good thing too, since four players were logjammed at 5-5 after round
two. The mighty Jim Rzonca, who had snatched up every point available
during the first four weeks, needed to come from way back to finish
second tonight. Rzonca was 48-2 entering the evening's play but went
8-7. Rzonca's Bruins had a chance to take second place outright, but
lost the last regular game to Eric Krol's Cleveland Steamers 6-5 in
OT to force a second-place tiebreaker with Ryan Heraldo. That game
also went into extra time, with Rzonca finding the net to win 3-2 and
pick up two points for second place. First place went to Scott
Pytlewski, who was on all night and finished with a highly impressive
13-2 record to snatch up the three points. Heraldo took a point for
third. Parity was the order of the night, with four players within a
game of each other. Overall, an intense and well-organized night of
table hockey. Next weekend is shaping up as a potentially huge one at
the Pytlewski home in Lemont, with many players expected to return to
action. E-mail us if you're interested in coming out. Here's how it
broke down:
