Week 7

Wonderful Lemont, IL was invaded this weekend by the PGA Tour's Advil
Western Open. The golfers got to shoot their birdies during the day,
but the night belonged to the Lemont Table Hockey League, located
just a stone's throw away (if you've got a really good arm) from Cog
Hill golf course in the backyard of Jerry and Scott Pytlewski.
Several newcomers played, including Bill McDaniel III (player Bill
McDaniel Jr.'s son), Mike Soukup (player Matt Soukup's dad) and Jason
Walker (player Eric Krol's soon-to-be brother-in-law). The top four
spots were hotly contested. Third place came down to a playoff
between Joe Salazar and CTHL runner-up Jim Rzonca, both of whom went
8-2 during the round robin. Rzonca went up 2-0, but the cagey Salazar
came back to tie things up. In the final minute, however, Salazar put
one into his own net on an errant pass from his left winger and
Rzonca held on for a 3-2 win and the 3.5 points for third place.
Salazar got 2.5 points for fourth. A playoff for first place took
place between Scott Pytlewski and Garry Butler, both of whom rolled
through the round robin with 9-1 records. Scott was in control for
much of the game, winning 3-1 to take first place and 5.5 points.
Butler had an impressive evening, finishing with 4.5 points. We had
11 players, so the top six places got points tonight. Bill McDaniel
started strong at 6-2, but lost his last two to Butler and Salazar to
finish 6-4 for fifth and 1.5 points. Eric Krol started out 4-0 but
came back down to Earth, finishing 5-5 for sixth. Here are the Week 7
