Week 3 of the Lemont Stiga Table Hockey League drew seven players
to the garage of Jim Rzonca. This garage was one of the cleanest
you'll ever see. There was painted drywall up all around. The host
was kind enough to give us a tour of his Chicago Stadium-style
basement, with his really cool Benej game on display. Man, that game
has a small puck. And small nets. With the smaller number of guys, we
went to a double round-robin format, with each guy getting 12 games.
Rzonca's Bruins won for the third week in a row, but The Man did not
go undefeated this week. Eric Krol's Sharks, on an otherwise subpar
evening, defeated Rzonca 5-2 to end his 26-game winning streak in
league play. Second place came down to a tie between Michael
Malesky's Avalanche and Jim Gove's Hurricanes. The 'lanche prevailed
3-2 for second. There was a tie for fourth as well, with newcomer
Garry Butler's B-52 Bombers upending Bill McDaniel's Blues 3-2 in OT.
With seven players, first place got 3.5 points, second place 2.5
points, and so on. The Lemont Stiga League will be taking next
weekend off as Jerry and Scott Pytlewski head up with their friend
Will to the Montreal Stiga tournament. Good luck guys!
