Everyone without a doubt was excited to be back playing some Stiga on Saturday night, May 22, at Gerald J. Pytlewski's home in Lemont. Despite a heavy downpour that flooded parts of the Chicago area, eight players showed up for some table hockey action. Play was divided up into three round robins, with six guys present for the first round and eight taking part in rounds two and three. So six guys played 19 games and two latecomers (Dan Lord and Kevin Cliff) played 14. When the smoke cleared, Rob Chargo, arguably at this point the second-best Stiga player in the U.S., was the clear winner. Chargo did not lose a game all night, with only Dan Lord managing a tie against him. Placing second was Eric Krol, who lost all three games against Chargo, including the night's final game with only one second left in the game. Chargo slipped in a nice RW-C high tip for the win. Krol also lost twice to Lord, who came from behind both times, and once to Joe Salazar, who was down 2-0 and roared back for a 3-2 win. Jim Rzonca went 11-8 to finish third. This year's LTHL summer season is still evolving and we hope to play about once a month, with the next session tenatively scheduled for Saturday, June 19. When that's confirmed, we'll let everyone know.
