Week Three Results

How hot was it? So hot that Commissioner Jerry Pytlewski, background, went shirtless. Jeff Thill still wore a heavier shirt as he refs Roger Connolly.

An absolute scorcher of a night, with high humidities as the Lemont Table Hockey League fired up for the Week 3 tournament. We had a strong 11-man turnout despite it being the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Commissioner Jerry Pytlewski hosted the evening once again at Fantail Gardens, his backyard table hockey arena/pigeon haven. Jim Rzonca bounced back to take the round-robin tournament, going 9-1. His only loss was to Jeff Thill, who also bounced back this week to finish second at 8-2. Third place was up for grabs between Jeff Farwell, Dan Lord and Eric Krol, all at 7-3, and the tiebreakers left them in that order. Rich Thill also picked up a half-point for sixth place. Highlights of the evening included a barn burner of a game between Rzonca and his Bubble Boys partner Pytlewski. Jerry held a 2-1 lead, but lost some of his momentum after a rod broke (those pesky LW Stiga rods), and Jim came back for a 3-2 victory. Eric Krol and Jeff Thill played another tough game, beating each other up before Thill iced it 2-1. CTHL'er Roger Connolly made a surprise appearance and acquitted himself well, playing most everybody tough and upending Jeff Thill 4-3. Connolly, who can be found playing Coleco in the winter, said he grew up playing the Stiga. Garry Butler drove back two hours from Michigan to arrive in enough time to play. As far as I know, no games were broken by Garry.

It's the Bomber, Garry Butler!
